| The Psychology of the Tarot Many methods can be used to express both spiritual and psychic energy into the physical aspect. Tools are available to enhance intuition and gain insights, such as the Tarot, Runes, and the I Ching. Or the process may simply involve placing the body and mind into deep relaxation and using guided imagery, or a meditative state, to access the subconscious. The famous Swiss psychiatrist Carl G. Jung searched extensively for spiritual knowledge during his lifetime. He believed in the collective unconscious of humanity and developed psychological theories that reflected his cross-cultural research in areas such as religious symbolism, visions and dreams, synchronicity, and divination. The Tarot especially draws from the archetypal symbolism of the collective unconscious. |

| These long-practiced methods of knowing can help us focus our energies toward problem-solving. Sometimes we have a specific issue or question, and at other times just a vague feeling of worry or a sense that life is steering off-course. Guidance can be found, and methods such as the Tarot and guided imagery can offer the reassurance and affirmation we seek, as well as keeping us in touch with our higher, true selves. These techniques are not meant to involve, or replace, any practices in professional psychotherapy, but are available as an alternative method of awareness, so that we may chart our own course toward our goals with understanding. And that's an essential part of this human journey... finding our way. Reading the Tarot The Tarot is best used as a meditative tool for personal guidance.
